never grow up

i ran out this morning to pick up taylor swift's new cd, speak now.
it's wonderful
i think she's wonderful

riding home i was listening to a little of each of the songs
& one completely touched my heart.
this year with savannah being a senior,
i'm such a sap anytime i think about her leaving for college next fall.
honestly that's no big suprise
as i've sorta dreaded that phase for a while

you can tell me it's an exciting time for them
& how i should be so proud
it is & i am
but still...

in the meantime i honestly try to never take a single simple day
with any of my four girlies
for granted
many days i wish they'd never grow up
& i could have four little ones all in smocked dresses & mary janes
forever

so
a few photos of my "blue-eyes"
& the words from taylor....

Your little hands wrapped around my finger
And it's so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you're dreaming
So I tuck you in and turn on your favorite nightlight

To you, everything's funny
You got nothing to regret
I'd give all I have honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple
I won't let nobody hurt you
Wont let no one break your heart
No one will desert you
Just try to never grow up
Never grow up

You're in the car on the way to the movies
And you're mortified your mama's dropping you off
At 14, there's just so much you can't do
And you can't wait to move out
Someday and call your own shots

But don't make her drop you off around the block
Remember she's getting older too
And don't lose the way that you dance around in your PJs getting ready for school
Oh darling don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
Just stay this little
Oh darling don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up
It could stay this simple
No one's ever burned
Nothing's ever left you scarred
Even though you want to, just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what is sounded like what your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother's favorite songs
I just realized everything I had is someday gonna be gone

So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city, they just dropped me off
It's so much colder than I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my nightlight on

Wish I'd never grown up
I wish I'd never grown up
Oh I don't wanna grow up
Wish I'd never grown up
Could still be little
Oh I don't wanna grow up
It could still be simple

It is amazing how quickly time flies. Your girls are so beautiful. My girls and I love Taylor Swift (even though they sometimes accidentally call her "Swift Taylor")

Oh my! I am so there with you! So exciting and yet... filled with angst! How I long for those days of spinning round and round and singing silly songs and little toes!
Come August I will be absolutely LOST!
Sounds terribly pathetic but unashameably true!

Oh Paige .. how sweet!!!
I wish I could say it was the same with boys, but not so. Love them all the same though and some day I WILL have girls in my life! ;)

Beautiful, blue eyed girlies!!! Such naturals in front of your camera!

You said everything I feel - and Taylor says it perfectly. I surprised my big girl last spring and took her to a Taylor concert - it was so fun belting out her songs side by side! Love her messages - including this one!

Taylor never disappoints. What a sweet song!

I feel like it wasn't that long ago that my parents moved me into my new house my first year of college and it was only 2 years ago when my Dad walked me down the aisle. Now I am expecting a little one of my own and even though I have 5 months before we will meet in person, I already feel like time is passing way too fast. I want to learn how to hold on to those precious moments while my child is still little.

Those photos were perfect for that song.

You gave
me goose bumps,
sweet friend.
I'm only two
years behind
you....Can hardly
bear the thought,
one moment, but
get giddy remembering
my own new-found
freedom when I left
the nest and then
I am so excited
for her!!!
I love TS, too;
can't wait to pick
this up! Wonderful
images as always, Paige : )

You're so good at living in the momemt! I love the way you capture these simple, special times with your girls.

Xo,

PS - does your youngest love to model for you? She doesn't seem to be crabby in fron tof the camera the way my youngest is. ;)

I am a year behind you, thank goodness. I sometimes look at them and wonder where the days have gone... I have loved each stage a little bit more than the last, and love as they get older and you can have amazing conversations with them, but still, it all goes by so quickly.
Great post my friend - it is good to remind ourselves to not let time pass so quickly that we miss the journey.

Hey Paige! I was thinking, maybe you could try to redo the chair the same as the ones from the Country Living Fair. You know the ones with the different fabrics and patterns? I think that would look great and give that chair a lot of life and character. What do you think? Maybe too far out for what you were going after? Just a thought.
A little bonus would be that it would be inexpensive to go that route.
