blessed is the man...

i wanted to share one of the gifts i have given to my sweetie

a couple of years ago i was taking an oil painting class
oh i loved it
i love the smell of the oils & the turpentine
i loved the feel of the brush against the canvas

i'm no artist
not by a long shot
i painted a few portraits of my girls
but usually i "practiced" by using an image
from N.A. Noel
or Jennifer Lanne

i saw this very simple painting of a single tree
done by jennifer
& immediately thought of one of my favorite scriptures
psalm 1
it describes the blessings
that will come to a man
who is wise
& who surrounds himself with Godly men

this is my Dan

he is highly respected in his position
as a highschool asst principal

he is a godly man
who is slow to react
& slower to anger

in fact
in all the years we've been married
he's never been angry with me

he shows our girls
a forgiving gentle spirit
but yet a strong capable protective daddy

i painted this tree
& thought of the shelter he provides
for all his girls
& the stability he creates
through his loyalty to
me

i love you sweet man
& happy early valentines day

YOU
are
my
soulmate
&
I
can't imagine
my life
without
YOU

He is like a tree planted
by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.
Psalm 1.3

What a wonderful man! I feel blessed to have one too! The painting is so special and I am sure he treasures it. I have always loved N.A. Noel too! I have a few of her books. I am sure he feels just as blessed as you do!

And I see he is all that to you and your girls and so much more! Love it so that God brought him into your life. You have shown me what true should really look like in your relationship with him and it makes me see that hope, solid and true is possible.

I know that you do not, nor have you ever taken a second of it for granted...Ever, but count your blessings one by one concerning Dan! That has been my sweet blessing to view too.

He is the one prayer that I prayed so hard over you that God would fill and God answered. I remember smiling when I met him thinking "Thank you God for taking care of my girl, my life long precious friend and her daughters." Made me see that God hears and his amazing desires for our lives.

That was deep from me, wink. I hope that was ok to share in a blog comment. ;)

Happy Valentines Week my precious, kindred life long friend.

hello new friend!

i was so emotional reading your story on our friend sibi's blog. it is truly amazing. you are so brave to share it, but i hope you know how it has blessed many many people. your family is "simply" gorgeous.

and now, about that man of yours...you have a treasure there! as i know, you know. my mom has {somewhat} of a similar story like yours. not with a true "loss" of a husband, but finding true love second time around. AND she had us 3 girls in tow when meeting him. (one of the three being a special needs.) but like you, she found love again, in every meaning of the word love. so thank you for sharing your story. (i've never written of this story before on blogland, it just felt right to share with you.)

have a beautiful day!
kellie

i'm following you on twitter now!
